The rightwing's cynical use of colorblindness in the United States is akin to their lies about elections being rigged and undocumented citizens being violent criminals. They see no need to provide EVIDENCE for any of their claims. As we saw this week, when their leader was asked for "evidence" of his absurd voter fraud claims in the California primaries or voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, he threw a hissy fit like a toddler, then ran out of the room, visibly shaken that his lies were not believed without objection. Lying with impunity is the modus operandi of today's Republican Party. Thank you, Miss Ifill, for holding their feet to the fire.

I cannot reason nor write like the brilliant Sherrilyn Ifill, but I think what the Court majority meant by "our colorblind Constitution" is instead "our Constitution [that we henceforth declare] colorblind," and in so doing "we (the majority) choose to ignore the Framers' clear acknowledgement and accommodation of racial segregation, disenfranchisement, and dehumanization......at once blinding ourselves to that history, conveniently, henceforth." Which will not stand.
I'm currently reading Richard Rothstein's 2017 book THE COLOR OF LAW. I'd express-mail a copy to each of those six "justices" if I thought they'd read it, but I know they wouldn't. So I'll just recommend it to anyone who wants evidence to refute the racist ignorance of the SCOTUS majority.

The seemingly unrelated issue of approvals for AI data centers began in Georgia well before their hidden costs to clean water, sound and light pollution, wildlife, data and energy ripoffs were widely known. They will likely impact black and brown and rural communities first.

If I've read you correctly, you mention that calling the MAGA 6 out on their staggering racism and hypocrisy could lead to their accusing you--or any of us-- of a kind of reverse racism.
I would say, of course.
And it's heinous and immoral of them to feign indignation, but they are not people of integrity or moral character, as far as their actions repeatedly show. They have, sadly, completely turned themselves over to power, extreme arrogance, money, racism and death dealing, just like the fascist regime they serve.
Court reform is a must-- an absolute imperative-- if we are to have a democracy going forward. Barring a massive, tangible repentance I do not forsee, the MAGA 6 absolutely cannot be trusted to do anything but follow their idolatry to the destruction and death that inevitably accompanies it.
The white supremacist decisions of past Sumpreme Court majorities have been overturned. Let's worked for a reformed, expanded court and undo these illegitimate decisions.
I love reading your Constitutional analyses. However, this discussion neglects that the 14th and 15th amendments protected the political participation of black men. Women couldn't vote until the 19th amendment, and the Supreme Court still frequently denies women their 14th amendment equal rights.
I refuse to believe that the depraved opinions of the current SCOTUS majority can block the U.S. from ultimately being a true multicultural democracy. Dredd Scott was overturned. These terrible, illegitamate decisions will be too, when we overturn this white supremacist government and reform the courts. I grew up during the Civil Rights Movement. I refuse to stop fighting.
