Ms Ifill, The clarity, the spirit with which you give voice this Friday January 2, 2026 is so welcomed! The poet in me muses a winged fortification as we transition into this new year. There is something of the point of view of birds in flight in concert with the rootedness of MotherEarth, that accompany “us all (toward )a healthy and democracy-restoring New Year!”

Thank you for so many great ideas for how to stay engaged in spite of the onslaught of insidious behavior from this regime. As a mail-in voter in a red state I now have to figure out a way to ensure my ballot will count. There’s always another hill to climb with these people.

yes. i believe one of the most important issues for 2026 is the dishonesty mostly in right wing media, that made 77 million people believe in and continue to believe t.Rump's lies and manipulation. An Australian billionaire is destroying US democracy with Fox's lies, is there nothing we can do about "the devil who is the father of all lies".

YES!!! Truthful information starts the New Year off right ✅️. Thank you, Ms. Ifil. Next, how do we educate the younger generations on creating and maintaining democracy? My senior year was full of enthusiasm to vote. 1971 was the first year that 18-year-olds could vote. In 2026, the real question is "Why?" How do we encourage teachers to teach our children about their government and how to participate in it???

I always appreciate your writing; thank you
