That vision can motivate us as we do the mundane daily work to push back against the gathering forces of hegemonic Christian nationalist white supremacy.

Yes, American apartheid is back with a vengeance. Maybe 1/3 of the country thinks this is good. This bigoted minority has perverted our elections and the rule of law in pursuit of tyrannical power. Blue states should be a bulwark and demand that our democracy and the rule of law be restored to their true meaning nationally, right now or they will be guaranteed in a new union of democratic states. This would bring about a good and urgent discussion that might save the nation. And if not, let multiracial democracy prevail where it is valued. I hope we are a lopsided election away from fixing this like Hungary but our bigots believe it's now or never for them.
Thank you for this. I’m from Maryland. Maryland Democrats have a super majority in its legislature. A redistricting bill was introduced in the House and overwhelmingly passed and went to the Senate. The Senate President, Bill Ferguson refused to even bring the bill up for a vote. I don’t think my Senator, Ben Kramer was for it either. Both Democrats. Both well off white guys. Of course they will survive, what ever happens. That the bill was not brought up for a vote infuriates me. I don’t know if you saw the story of the two Maryland House Delegates who made the outrageously racist video about another House Delegate, Delegate Chao Wu who is Chinese American. A stern admonishment but no formal condemnation. Everyone shrugs. I know Delegate Wu and he is a mensch. Our country is falling apart.
